I'm going to talk you about YouTube adventure and answer two questions that we get asked all the time by friends and my family members by viewers which is how do we make money on YouTube and how much money have we are able to make on YouTube with videos.
YouTube sells AD placements on before or after videos. Monetizing video do advertising companies that pay you to based on how many times their advertisement was viewed and clicked. And then YouTube gives a portion of that ad Revenue to the creator.
YouTube makes the most money off of videos with not just a high view count but also a lot of watch time. Because the longer user watches a video the more advertisements still see. The more advertisements still potentially click on it and because creators are intrinsically depending on YouTube for their own revenue.
It's in a creator's best interest to make videos that maximize not just views but also watched. Youtubers with a lot of subscribers don't automatically make more money off of a video than a smaller Channel because it's all about watch time.
When I started YouTube, I also felt that making videos was really hard and it was more difficult to make videos longer than 10 mins to maximize advertising revenue from YouTube, actually from advertisers.
